A NOON AT MARINA BEACH : Majrooh Rashid
A NOON AT MARINA BEACH
Majrooh Rashid
The moon was fast asleep
behind Kalrayan Hills
in the shade
of green shady trees,
and the sea was drowned
in stillness.
Suddenly,
you came out of yourself,
though draped in silvery clouds
at midnoon.
The waters felt shrouded in premonition
and turned restive.
Touching your feet,
they splashed your curls
the way dew soothes
the bosom of a burning rose.
I wish I were around,
holding your hand,
grabbing the moment,
taking you
to the depths of the sea
where
pearls lay in circles,
waiting
for the eternal diver
to bring them to the surface.
