Dr. Ratan Bhattacharjee 

Ph.D. DLitt 

International Tagore Awardee Professor Ratan Bhattacharjee is a Kolkata based Poet,Columnist and Fiction Writer . He is a social activist for promoting global peace and harmony . 

He taught English Literature and Language in India and abrod for long four decades. He is Founder Member of International Theodore Dreiser Society Philadelphia USA in the Advisory Board.He served as the Head Post Graduate Dept of English Dum Dum Motijheel College Kolkata (formerly under Calcutta University) under West Bengal State University. He taught in Mankachar College Assam ,Bangabasi Evening College,Rabindra Bharati University and Vidyasagar University in West Bengal. He was invited for lecture to many universities in India including Annamalai University ,Manipal University Rajasthan, VSSD PG College Kanpur, Prerna College Nagpur, SLCS Madurai, Vasant Kanya Girls Mahavidyalaya (PG) BHU Varanasi, Reva University Bangalore. He was invited to Fairleigh Dickinson University New Jersey as International Visiting Professor .

 He has been in Virginia Commonwealth University as an Affiliate Faculty of English in Hibbs’ Hall and chaired many international conferences and seminar all over Europe ,Canada and America. As Ph.D .Evaluator he conducted viva in Annamalai University and he served as Examiner of Ph.D .Thesis for Vellore Institute of Technology, JJTU Rajasthan, Nagpur University and many others. He chaired many national and international conferences while he was invited as Visiting Professor to many universities in the USA. 

He was editing two International ISSN journals, Voices of Indian English Writers (VIEW) and Literary Confluence ( A Peer Reviewed Global Journal of English Literature and Culture Studies). He is now the Founder President of Kolkata Indian American Society ( www.kias.org.in) .He loves travelling and photography and singing are his two most vulnerable hobbies. He loves Nature especially the mysterious forest and the wavy seas. He has been Officer Commanding of 19 Bengal NCC Unit in Dum Dum Motijheel College after being comminssioned as Army officer holding rank as Lieutenant winning two service medals for his achievement in Army camps , National Trekking in Jharkhand and National Integrity Camp in Maharashtra He retired from service in 2022 .

Dr.Ratan Bhattacharjee is the Journalist for Daily Global Nation of Bangladesh and Hills Times of North East India. He writes regular columns on Female Celebrity in The Sentinel and on contemporary issues including World literature in the most prestigious newspaper Daily Headlines Today , Shillong Times , Assam Tribune ,Eastern Chronicle, Hills Times ,The Statesman ( India ) Barcelona( Philippines) , Orfeu( Italy) , Homo Universalis (Greece) The Global Nation ( Bangladesh) etc in English and The Danik Statesman , Assam Tribunes, Aajkal , Puber Kalom, Udar Akash in Bengali , Amar Asom, Saptahik Janambhumi Sadin, Niyamiya Barta ( Assamese) .His and post editorials on varied issues of society and literature and now his articles are nearly 4000 in number. Dr.Ratan Bhattacharjee is now writing regularly for the most prestigious newspaper published from Kashmir Daily Headlines Today and its Weekly Literary Supplement LitStream ( Hony Editor Dr.Basharat Khan )

PUBLICATIONS:

 With nearly four decades of teaching experience in colleges and universities in India and abroad he claimed his poetic debut with The Ballad of the Bleeding Bubbles(Cyberwit Allahabad 2014) and later for his publication of Oleamder Blooms (Authorspress 2015 ) he is called ‘Oleander Poet’ of India . The Ballad of the Bleeding Bubbles was translated into Assamese as Raktakta Burburanir Malita ( Assam Publishing House) 2015) .Later he wrote Our Daughter Our Princess,(2017) Renee ,Rudhagni(2019) , Melody and Maladies etc. 

 His poems and article are published and translated in International magazines online and printd all over Europe South Asia, America and Canada . The Chinese International journal Cha; Bilingual Journal and Setu : Bilingual magazine from America also published his story and articles.

He is also a translator of hundreds of poems and popularized Duet / Collaborative poems His short story collection Six Feet Distance published from Bloomington USA and his books on children literature are widely read. As a Researcher of American literature his books on F Scott Fitzgerald and Theodore Dreiser got appreciation from abroad . During his position as former Head Post Graduate Dept of English Dum Dum Motijheel College he translated a good number of Foreign poets He wrote nearly 15 books on British and American Literature including Francis Scott Fitzgerald ( Patridge Singapore 2020 ) and Theodore Dreiser : Going Beyond Naturalism ( 2021 INSC Bangalore).His books Our Time Revisited and Beyond the Mirror will rock the stand soon as they are published in 2025 by IIP Bangalore.

 He wrote short stories for children in Bengali Satsagarer Moni Mukto ( World Classics ) Chotoder Choto Galpo , a novel Batabriksha( Banyan Tree) and a satirical fiction Lord Ganesher Dugdhapan which were best sellers in the book fairs of Kolkata and Delhi. 

In 2025 Dec before Christmas Celebration his 700 page all colour book for children , a collection of stories Putu Shona will be published from International Iterative Publisher Bangalore.

He won accolade internationally as the Best Professor of the Year and gave invited lecture on International Forums of Fairleigh Dickinson University . . He won many awards and recently he is the winner of Literamo Award , APJ Abdul Kalam Award , Bhanu Singh Award from Bangladesh Global Nation group and Banga Shrestha Samman as a Poet and academician from Aranyak He won International Tagore Award (DRDC UK) in 2024 and Bhanu Singh Award 2024 from the Global Nation (Bangladesh) . He got hundreds of certificates and recognition as Best Poet and Best Short Story writer from India and abroad. He is felicitated by Chief Minister Chandra Babu Naidu as the International multilingual poet in Vijaywada Hyderabad in the International Conference of Multilingual poets and writers.
