MEET THE LITSTREAM LITERARY VOICES ABID ALI MIR

ABID ALI MIR

Abid Ali Mir, born on 18 March 1994 in Pandrethan, Srinagar, Kashmir, is a voice-driven writer whose narratives weave together pain, hope, nature, and human dignity into a single, compelling thread. Guided from childhood by the poetry of Mirza Ghalib, his literary compass expanded in his thirties to include Muhammad Iqbal, whom he calls “two eyes through which I see literature and life.” Calm, creative, and academically bright in his early years, Abid’s path was shaped by early adversity: the trauma of his mother’s unsuccessful surgery while he was in sixth grade left an indelible mark but never diminished his resolve.

Years later, during the uncertainty of the Covid-19 lockdown, stranded for fifty days in Gurugram’s Cyber City, Abid rediscovered literature as both refuge and rebellion. In solitude, poetry and prose became his compass once again — a path reclaimed through introspection, creative expression, and survival. Today, rooted in Kashmir’s lived reality, his poetry is unflinchingly honest, while his prose amplifies the voices of the unheard, reflecting ordinary lives and nature’s silent distress.

Abid’s journey in radio has always been purposeful rather than performative. Through storytelling and broadcasts, he awakens listeners to environmental grief, cultural memory, and human vulnerability. His literary and broadcast mission rests on two convictions:

Human identity deserves dignity, especially in unsettling times.

Nature deserves a voice, not charity; protection, not sympathy.

His stories serve as bridges between grief and survival, silence and expression, humans and nature, loss and restoration.

A distinct contemporary voice in Kashmiri literature and broadcasting, Abid Ali Mir merges his roles as Radio Jockey, columnist, poet, and cultural observer to create awareness on conflict trauma, social healing, environmental crises, and cultural identity. His broadcasts are reflective and message-led, urging audiences to defend wetlands, respect nature, and restore human empathy. His literary works mirror emotional realism with humanitarian undertones, championing both social resilience and environmental consciousness.

Two pillars have carried him through life’s storms — his wife and his mother. Their strength, prayers, and quiet resilience became his shelter when life tested him, and his compass when the road ahead was uncertain.
