Parent-Teacher Meeting Held At Govt Boys Middle School Khunbal Handwara
Handwara, Aug 9:
A well-attended parent-teacher meeting was convened on Friday at Government Boys Middle School (GBMS), Khunbal, Handwara, aimed at strengthening cooperation between educators and families to improve student outcomes.
The meeting drew a sizable gathering of parents alongside Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) Handwara, Shamsudin Samoon, and members of the Village Education Committee (VEC). The agenda centred on academic performance, attendance, and ways to foster a supportive learning environment at home and in school.
In his address, ZEO Shamsudin Samoon underscored the pivotal role of parental involvement in a child’s education. He urged parents to “maintain checks and balances on their wards” and maintain constant communication with teachers, describing it as vital for academic growth and character building.
Tarique Raheem Greater Kashmir Correspondent and active VEC member, called for closer coordination between parents and the teaching staff. He stressed that children must attend classes regularly to benefit fully from their education.
“Teachers, as torchbearers, must dedicate their full time and attention to students once inside the school premises,” he said, adding that consistent effort from both home and school can shape a brighter future for the young generation.
The meeting also provided a platform for parents to raise concerns and share suggestions regarding school facilities and student needs. Several attendees expressed appreciation for the initiative, noting that such interactions help bridge communication gaps and strengthen trust between the school and community.
The event concluded with Headmistress Miss Shakeela thanking the ZEO, VEC members, and parents for their presence and valuable input, reiterating the school’s commitment to nurturing both academic excellence and moral values among its pupils.
