Gadder Meadows, Kashmir; On winding paths where roads yield to rugged trails, and the whispers of nature mingle with distant birdcalls, Dr. Yousuf Tak, Senior Consultant and President of the Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK), embarks on a mission defined not by distance, but by compassion.

Walking eight kilometers through the challenging terrain of Gadder Meadows, Dr. Tak reaches the doorsteps of tribal families long burdened by the twin hardships of isolation and inadequate healthcare. Accompanied by the selfless volunteers of Mercy Hands Foundation, he brings more than medicine; he brings hope.

Beneath open skies, free medical consultations unfold, while essential medicines and intravenous fluids provide much-needed relief. Patients suffering chronic pain find solace through precise intra-articular injections, easing joints weathered by years of hardship.

Yet this mission transcends physical healing. Dr. Tak and his team engage adolescent girls and women in heartfelt discussions on female personal hygiene, sowing seeds of awareness that promise healthier futures. In classrooms bathed in gentle daylight, tribal students participate in the Back to School Club, embracing education hand in hand with wellness.

For those requiring advanced care, seamless coordination with District Hospital Pulwama ensures their health journey continues beyond these humble meadows.

Behind this noble endeavor stands a dedicated team—Fayaz Ahmad Wani, RMP; volunteer Nissar Ahmad Lone; Shuja Tak; social activist Afiqa Ali; and Imad Yousuf—each weaving vital threads into this tapestry of service.

In the heart of Gadder Meadows, where nature’s beauty meets human resilience, Dr. Tak’s footsteps echo a timeless truth: healthcare is not a privilege for the few, but a right to be delivered; no matter the distance.
