92 Bn CRPF Marks Major Dhyan Chand’s Birth Anniversary with Sports Events

The 92 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) paid rich tributes to hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand by organizing a three-day Inter-Company Volleyball Tournament from August 29 to 31. The matches were held at DPL Handwara, SDPO Chijhama grounds, and the Battalion Headquarters at Wadoora, Sopore.
As part of the celebrations, a football match between Trainees and HQ Company 92 Bn CRPF was also played at the Battalion Headquarters, infusing youthful energy into the occasion.
The closing ceremony, held on Sunday, coincided with National Sports Day. Addressing the gathering, the Commandant of 92 Bn CRPF underscored the importance of sports in shaping discipline and character.
“This tournament is more than just a competition. It is a platform to engage our force personnel in constructive and disciplined activities, away from drugs and negative influences. Through sports, we aim to inculcate teamwork, leadership, fitness, and patriotism,” he said.
Winners and runners-up were felicitated with trophies and certificates. The Commandant further stressed that sports remain central to CRPF’s efforts in promoting fitness, stress management, and camaraderie, while also motivating local youth towards a healthy and positive lifestyle.
The Battalion extended its gratitude to the media for highlighting positive initiatives and encouraging the younger generation to embrace constructive pursuits.
