International Mother Language Day celebrated in Handwara

A grand function with regard to International Mother Language Day was Friday organized by Mehboob-ul-Alam Adbi Society Rajwar and Joie Adab Keijnag in collaboration with Tehreeki Adab Kasp Mir Trust Rajwar at Wadipora Handwara area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
The event witnessed participation of esteemed literary figures and scholars, including Dr Reyaz Tawheedi, Bashir Mungwalpori, Ghulam Rasool Banday, Mir Dardpori who graced the occasion as guests. Their participation in the programme left an everlasting impact on significance of preserving and promoting mother language.
Speakers threw light on the crucial role of language in shaping identity and fostering cultural continuity. They impressed upon the need for concerted efforts to safeguard linguistic heritage and encourage the younger generation to work with for the upliftment of mother tongue.
On the occasion poets recited compositions in their mother tongue Kashmiri, reflecting the depth and richness of local literature.
The event also featured discussions on language preservation, with participants stressing the necessity of educational and governmental support in safeguarding indigenous languages. A collective call was made for increased documentation and promotion of regional dialects to ensure their survival for future generations.
